PENTAGON on tehnyt salaisen miljoonan dollarin ohjelman joka tutki tun
nistamattomia lentäviä esineitä (UFOja), kertoi Yhdysvaltain tiedotusvälineiden raportti.
Vain pieni määrä virkamiehiä oli tietoinen ohjelmasta, joka alkoi vuonna 2007, ja se ilmoitettiin päättyneen vuonna 2012.
New York Times kertoo, että operaation asiakirjat kuvaavat outoja ylinopeutta lentäviä ilma-aluksia ja leijuvia esineitä.
Mutta tiedemiehet olivat ihmeissään ja korostivat, että selittämättömät tapahtumat eivät välttämättä osoittaneet avaruuden ulkopuolista elämää.
Yhdysvaltain keskustiedustelupalvelu C.I.A. julkaisee 13 miljoonaa sivua luokitelluista asiakirjoista
Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program oli Harry Reidin, eläkkeellä olevan demokraatti senaattorin oma älykköohjelma. Hän oli tuolloin senaatin enemmistöpäällikkö.
Hän kertoi New York Timesille: "En ole hämmentynyt eikä häpeäissäni taikka pahoillani, että sain tämän työn, olen tehnyt jotain, jota kukaan ei ole tehnyt ennen."
Reid - entinen Nevadan senaattori, joka asui myötelemoidussa "Area 51" -luokitellussa Yhdysvaltain ilmavoimien tukikohdassa - seurasi myöhemmin, että ohjelma oli vakava pyrkimys saada totuus "runsaasti todisteita kysymysten esittämisen tukemiseksi".
